Surprise.

So. I turned 24. And Jay told me that we were going to the coast for a day. I was looking forward to it.  Friday night came, we made plans to go out to dinner with Meg & Kyle. Jay received a phone call. He had to leave. There was this elaborate scheme that was unfolding before my eyes but I didn't really know what was happening. Jay had to go check the shop.  I went home with Kyle & Meg. I was unaware. Of anything.

Rosie celebrated with us at my birthday BBQ.

Jay came back to Meg & Kyle's. And there was this totally bizarre moment. Erin walked in the door with him and I completely didn't recognize her. It was surreal. It took me moments to get what was happening.
I was completely surprised than Jay had flown her into town for my birthday. What a surprise. And I loved it. It was totally great to have her here. She was able to see our house. Hang out. Spend time. I love when our lives intersect. She knows that.

On Saturday, we got up and got ready to go to the beach. Avila Beach. Erin had never visited the central coast. Fun to show her around. We did the normal stuff. Avila Valley Barn. Lunch on the beach. Lots of laughs.

Oh dear. I know that it is April. But look how white we are. Sheesh. We were able to catch some rays, but after a couple of hours, a huge fog bank just rolled in before our eyes. It was crazy.

Before Erin's flight left on Sunday evening, she took us out to lunch to our most fav place ever. El Adobe. Duh.  It is a really classy place. Obviously, look at the sign.

Erin, remember how hot it was that weekend? And our air conditioner wasn't working. oh gosh. And remember the smell on the drive back from the beach? And the gum in your nostrils? I laugh when I think about that...
