In Mid-August, we went on a camping trip to Rock Creek.
Rock Creek is one of my favorite places. It feels like home. I know my way around. Know the best spots. I even have a fishing hole.
We weren't suppose to go this year. Jay ended up having some vacation days that we had to use before school started for me. We decided that we would just do it. Head up there for a 5 day trip and enjoy ourselves.
And then Les & Zindi caught wind of our trip. And once they were interested, there was no talking them out of it.
I kept apologizing to Jayson. Telling him I was sorry that he was going on a camping trip with his in-laws. Of course, being the sport that he is, he didn't care.
And suddenly, our spur of the moment trip had become much bigger and with more people. But that is kinda how we like it.
The first full day, it rained. I mean, really rained. In all of my years of Rock Creek, it has never rained like this. So, we did what anyone would do. Sat around and waited it out.
Did I forget to mention that Rosie came? Of course, she did. And she absolutely loved it. She did better than we expected. Most of the time, she just wanted to sleep in the truck cab. Then she would come out, say hi to everyone, and go back to bed. Easiest camping dog ever.
Most of the time, we didn't even tie her up. She would just hang out in the campsite. Love her to pieces. She makes me laugh every day.
Even though it was raining, Dad said he would going to go throw in a line. First one he did, he catches that guy. Wasn't gone 10 minutes. Fishing pro, that guy. And this is a weird picture of him. It is his "hurry up and take the picture because I am hating every second of it" face. The fish isn't too happy either.
Morning camping kisses.
This is our propane coffee maker. Absolute necessity for a long camp out. The coffee came out so good and I can't wait to use it again.
We were fishing in Iris Meadow and Rosie went crazy. This picture was taken after she had calmed down. She just started sprinting about. She would not be deterred!
While in Iris Meadow, we walked over to Granmom & Grandad's tree. It is still there. Makes me glad to know they are always up there.
Proud moment when I caught this guy. He kept outsmarting me, taking my bait but I did not give up!

The awesome truck tent that Lauri bought us. This was the maiden voyage of the tent and we LOVED it. Kept us warm and dry. |
And then there is Trevor & Brandi. Trevor has MAJOR F.O.M.O.(Fear of Missing Out). And I knew that once Trevor got in into his head that he would miss out on something, he had to be there. So they came, too.

She is just the cutest.
Rosie was livin' the high life. We just let her. I think this is the trip that made her think she is a human. She DOES think she is a little human, by the way.
Pie in the sky.
Right after they stocked. We caught 4 in about fifteen minutes. Crazy.
Camping love.
It was a great trip overall and I am glad that we spent those last vacation days doing something we loved.
