I only make one kind of cookie.

When I make cookies, I use the old-school Betty Crocker recipe.
Chocolate Chip, of course.
Want to know why I use that recipe???

One answer: 2 sticks of butter.
Super YUM.

some people's babies...

...are just too adorable.

So Meg & Kyle. They are GREAT friends. The kind of friends we are putting stock in. They are the kind of friends you could live with and still want to hang out on the weekends (oh yeah, we did that). The kind of friends you actually want to help move into their house. The kind of friends to laugh with, drink margaritas with, and have fairly serious conversations with, and just basically, love. Well, anyway, they had a baby. We were so excited. SO excited.

Meghan = super cute pregnant lady.

She even likes Millie. Like I said, great friend.

When I was in Kansas last week, BabyBoy came into the world. First thing, I had to go meet him. Before we pulled up to their house, Jay said, "This better not make you baby crazy. We can't afford one." (And he is right, we can barely afford us)

So, we met him.

And how could this guy NOT make you baby crazy?

I am pretty sure even Jayson is baby crazy now...

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is having a great weekend! First weekend in June, let the summer fun begin.

Jay and I are in San Diego celebrating our anniversary. I'm sure I will have some great pictures to share when I get back.

P.S. don't let that picture fool you, it was taken 3 years ago. That's why we look so young and little.

I could.

Today, I could tell you lots of things.

I could tell you how Sonic happy-hour strawberry limeades are the best.
I could tell you about the time Sisterfriend and I got (very) tispy on champagne after buying my wedding dress.
I could tell you about my fears about the future.
I could tell you {again} how much I love summer.
I could tell you about the time Jayson and I paid 5 dollars for thirty minutes of internet time in Costa Rica, but the internet was so slow we were only able to download 30 seconds of our highlight video. What a tease.
I could tell you how I love my vinyl records.
Or I could even give you a hint as to what Next Week's FRIDAY FLIP will be.

But, what I really want to say is that God provides. No matter how little it seems we have, we have enough.
The end.

Thinking warm...

I am loving these warm days. Mind you, I didn't say 'hot'.
Although, I do prefer hot to cold, anyday.
Warm days are the bomb. I have been enjoying pool time. Laying-out-reading-a-book-drinking-iced-tea-alone-time. It is wonderful.
And on a day like today, when I walk in the door and it is already getting warm in my upstairs apartment, the first place that I want to go is down my the pool to get out of my stuffy apartment.

There are a few things that I love about Bakersfield. One of those things is being able to lay out by the pool from April to late September.

I know it is only May, but I have definately adopted my summer attitude. Productivity has gone out the window. Forget about chores. Right now is not the time. Now is the time to buy a sno-cone and eat it before it melts all over you.  Now is the time to lay out by the pool with the radio on. Now is the time for iced-coffee. And tan-lines.

Want to join me?

My Birthday.

Hi. So it's been a couple of days. I've been busy.
Crafting.
Painting.
Relaxing.
Working.
And CLEANING.
Oh dear.
The weather has been great, which makes me antsy for outdoor fun. That is why it has been so hard for me to sit down and write anything. BUT, I am doing my best.

I realized I never told you about my birthday. It was fun. And even though I don't really like my birthday, I liked THIS birthday.

It was low-key and relaxed. I woke up with a happy birthday sign from Jay (the best husband ever, seriously). I love him. The kind of love that makes me pathetic and lovesick when we are apart.
Sweet, right?

Anyway, I went to dinner with my family to this little Mexican Restaurant called El Adobe. My fav.

Here is me wearing a napkin-hat, getting a face-ful of flan at dinner. What a mean birthday tradition those mexican restaurants have. It really gave the family a laugh.

And I got some really thoughtful gifts. REALLY thoughtful.
Jay got me a foxy print:
[which can be found HERE]
and some Ektar film. BOMB.

My friend Meghan(my pregnant friend):
{isn't she cute?!?!}
She got me this super cute tea towel.
[which can be found HERE]

Jay's grandma (we call her Grandma San Diego, because she is from San Diego) gave me a World Market giftcard. From which I bought these curtains. LOVE.

And we ALL remember this gift. How could you forget?

THEN, after all of those nice things, I had an awesome picnic with my friend Kaylah, where we saw this:
 and this:
Isn't the water level high this year? I know, right?

I also got some birthday money. From which I bought this 25 cent basket for my knitting from Goodwill. It was used. And a quarter. Buying used goods is so satisfying when you find a treasure.
I just want to say that all but ONE of those pictures were taken with Que Ricoh. Screw digital cameras. That's right. I said it. Screw them. I feel like I don't even need one anymore. Film cameras are BY FAR superior to digital. NO joke.

I could go on... but I won't.

Turning 23 was great. Truly.

Pure Joy (in the simplest forms)

I will find joy.
I will find joy in simple things.
Like lopped off ripe strawberry tops.
Strawberry Shortcake.
 Bakersfield Sunsets off the Bluffs.
 & Clean dishes.

I will find joy at home. In my productivity & my rest. I will find joy that is free. And simple.
I will find joy in today.

Spring Break.

Well, I am officially on spring break!

Don't mind me. I will just be doing whatever my heart desires for 5 days straight. Well, whatever my heart desires within reason.
And the weather is nice.
Wish you could join me.
