Yesterday. {Mother's Day}

Yesterday was Mother's Day. We had a WHOLE day event, the first half was spent with Jay's family and the second half was spent with my family. Overall, it was a very relaxed day with WAY too much good food. I am still full.  Just wanted to share some of the (somewhat silly) pics from yesterday. Enjoy.

 The first half of the day looked alot like this. Words like calm/relaxed come to mind.

The second half of the day looked like this. Words like silly and somewhat weird come to mind. Surprisingly, my dad was the one to instigate all of the picture taking, even though he hates pictures. Also, this was the first time I have seen recent family photos since my wedding. I feel like my family is looking kinda weird theses days, myself included. This isn't meant to be rude. I just feel like we look different than what my memory tells me we should look like. That statement means nothing, just so you know. You can ignore my previous comments.

See that one in the bottom middle? Doesn't that picture just scream, "I want to be a grandma." haha. You wish, Mom.

A Spring Weekend. {Continued}

Hi friends. I had a lovely weekend. With lovely people. It was filled with LOTS of activities and fun.

Lauren came to stay. She is one of those life friends I was telling you about here. When I met her in college, we became friends instantly. I would say it is because we have the same sense of humor. And we had the same major in college. People would ask me, "Do you know anybody in your classes?" HA! Not only do I know someone, but she is also one of the best friends I have!
She is no-nonsense kind-of girl and the BEST study-buddy around. Also, she is the best beach-buddy around. So, basically she is just the best-buddy all around. Seriously, we have so much fun together and laugh/giggle constantly. Lauren, I am SO glad you came!

Lauren got into a master's program for Speech Pathology at the University of Kansas. {Congrats!!!} She is leaving in August. I am going to miss having her in California. When she leaves, it officially means that almost all of my friends live out of state. Sheesh.

ANYWAY, here are some highlights from the weekend.

1. Lauren and I went to Sequoia's and got sandwiches downtown.

I bought this cookie. Yum.

2. We made a visit to 'In Your Wildest Dreams' {the most amazing vintage store} and had some fun looking around.

3. One of the treasures we found was this HUGE tile table with matching print. Bizarre? I would say so.
See. Weird, right?
Why is there that hugh table featured in front of a cityscape?

4. We might have made a quick trip to Rosemary's for ice cream. Sisterfriend might have come. But just maybe. Don't hold us accountable to that or anything.

5. We went on the Kern River Trail hike. Yep, this time we found it. And it was such a beautiful day.

 Sisterfriend and HeyBrother came.

6. I got rejected again. {Not all highlights are good} The only grad programs I am waiting on are Fresno State & Portland State. I need to work on Plan B.

7. We finished off the weekend with bowling and grilling. And a nice breeze. It was great.

Tuesday Night Special.

Last Tuesday night, it was Sisterfriend's turn to cook dinner. {We cook for each other once a week} So, we go over to their apartment. And guess what she made. Mac & Cheese! What a treat. And boy, was it delicious.
I ate way too much. But tell me, how do you use self-control when there is Mac & Cheese in front of you? If you know the answer, PLEASE let me know.

{Sidenote. Sisterfriend & HeyBrother both have these awesome film cameras. And EVERYTIME I go over there, I ask if I can borrow one of them to go shoot some pictures. Seriously, EVERYTIME.}

When we went over for Mac & Cheese, it was the same old routine.

"Can I borrow your camera. Just for, like, a day." I beg.

Sisterfriend responds with, "We'll see." Which is her response to anything that is asked of her. Anyway, we ate dinner. Like I said. Too much Mac & Cheese.

Then Sisterfriend and HeyBrother scurry upstairs. Nothing suspicious. They do lots of  scurrying. But then they come downstairs with a GIFT!

Yes, a gift. For ME! It is an early birthday present. My birthday isn't until April 19th. But they want me to have it NOW. And so I open it. And IT IS WHAT MY HEART HAS ALWAYS DESIRED. My very own RICOH FILM CAMERA!!!

I'm pretty sure that I raised my arms and said, "Steve Holt." That's how excited I was. (Sorry 'bout that guys; how embarrassing)

Luckily, they both gave me a sympathy laugh.

For those of you who don't know Steve Holt, you can meet him on Arrested Development (the T.V. show). It is amazing and will give you an endless number of laughs.

Back to the gift.

So, yeah, I now I am the proud owner of a Ricoh KR-5 SuperII camera. It came with a 50mm fixed lens. I adore it. I am still learning how to use it... but don't you worry, I will show you my progress as I make it.
 Here it is! What a beauty. Practically in perfect condition.

I am one happy girl! Thanks for the amazing gift!

a bit of joy.

I found this pic on my last roll of film. it almost didn't make it on the roll. In fact, only half of the picture is present. still, it brought a smile to my face and maybe even a giggle.

 Taken at a BBQ at Hart Park. Sisterfriend and I. Heart warming.

friday grill night(s).

So, let me begin by tell you some things about Sisterfriend. First, she is older than me. She is bossy. She likes to read. In fact, she loves to read. She has long blonde hair and she loves to have her hair played with/braided. She cooks. She can get off her bike while it is still moving. She has a birthmark on her eye and I don't really know that it is there until someone wants to cover it with make-up. And she is my best friend. Our favorite activity is sitting around and making faces at each other. We are boring. But luckily, we like to be bored together.
Here she is making a face:

Isn't she intimidating? Really she is not. She just pretends to be. By making silly faces. Another thing you need to know about Sisterfriend is that we live in the same apartment complex. Yeah, that's right. I live about 40 steps from her apartment. So we see them alot, her and HeyBrother. We have dinner together a couple of nights a week and we grill together on Fridays. Jay & HeyBrother are learning the complexities of grilling. So last Friday, we got together for another grill night.

After eating, we were all hangin' out. We played a rousing game of Blokus. If you don't know Blokus, go to Target and buy it. Now. After Blokus, the boys started playing Battlefield. Here is one of them playing.
Here is the other one. Doing something on the computer.

When the boys play Battlefield, normally SisterFriend and I sit around and look at each other. By not this Friday night! We decided that the game Clue would be the only thing to satisfy our boredom. So, we drove to HeyBrother's parents house to borrow the game. On the way, SisterFriend said she wanted to stop for some lemons... out of the front yard of some people's yard. So... that's exactly what we did. We stopped, she grapped, and we drove off.

And LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT LEMON! It is huge and beautiful. And there are tons more hanging on the tree... We just have to go back and steal more. Which we will. I assure you.

Comparing the size of the lemon to the size of Sisterfriend's head. Seriously, it is quite big.
She gets giggly late at night.

So do I.

It was one of our better Friday Grill nights.
Lemon thievery and all.
