We have live on Natchitoches Way for one whole year.
That is the longest that we have ever lived anywhere.
Crazy.
Looking back, I felt like I got pushed to live here. I wasn't overly excited about it. Jay just knew that is was going to be a good thing. He knew that it would improve our life. I had a hard time getting past the wall colors, mirrors, and weird nooks.
But, he was right. Living in a rental house is a great thing. I have loved living here and it really feels like home. This house has taught me what I would love to have in a house, what I don't need, and what things I would need to function in our life. Thanks, Natchitoches House. You have taught me so much.
Top 10 things I love about living on Natchitoches Way:
1. BEST landlords EVER. Ron & Lauri pretty much gave us free reign and have tried to make improvements for us.
2. Space. We still have a whole room that is empty.
3. Houseguests. Last December we went and bought a double bed for the guest room. And people have used it! Love having people here.
4. Herb garden. My basil plants went crazy. Love it.
5. Yard. We have room for Rosie.
6. The deck. We loved eating on the deck during cool evenings. Great memories.
7. Room to grow. Last December when Lauren visited, after she got the tour, she said, "You could have four kids in this house." She may have been joking and that would be madness, BUT we have room to grow.
8. The quirks. From the super old microwave to doors that swell during the winter, this house has it's quirks. But it is our quirky house.
9. Location. I am so close to my job at Castle School. And it is only a 10 minute drive to VP. The only thing that is far from me is Sisterfriend, and she is worth the drive. We are also close to the rest of our family. Perfect. (We just happen to be 1.2 miles from an intersection where a train has to whistle as it crosses the road. Not too loud but loud enough to hear it in the distance. I love hearing it when I lay in bed.)
10. The person I share it with.
Top 5 things I want when I buy our first house:
1. Peace and Quiet. Living on White Ln. bothers me. I hate the constant traffic noises and sirens.
2. A nice neighborhood. Some of neighbors are getting a little too lazy. Like unkept yards. Worn down house. Crap in the front yards. Not a fan.
3. Proximity to train tracks. I'm weird. But that's what I want.
4. Bigger kitchen. My sous chef (Jay) and I need more space to be able to work in the kitchen at the same time.
5. No mirrors. (Except in the bathroom) This house has WAY too many mirrors for my liking. When we moved in there were 5 mirror in addition to the two that were necessary in the bathroom. That's seven mirrors for a 3 bedroom home. Um, Why?
